Renato watched the two head down the stairs. He took one last look at his room, then locked the door. Because it was so late, the attendant was nowhere to be found. He dropped the key on the counter and wrote a note saying he would be absent for a period of time, but left no reason. Best to keep outbound info limited. He stepped outside and began to walk down the street, before realizing he had no idea where he was going.
He stopped and sat down on the curb, and noticed that the couple (or, "just friends", as they claimed) were still following him. he should probably keep a closer eye on them, they certainly didn't look like they could take care of themselves. Kiah was too confident for his own good, and Zeke was just a doll to be carried around. I wonder if she can even think for herself, he thought. No matter. Problems like that had to be dealt with later, now he had to focus on the problem at hand: Where the hell were they going to go?
He didn't trust any of his clients enough to ask for help. All of his usual stashes were only kept secret because of a greased palm here or there inside the government. Now that he was a wanted man, all of that was going to go to hell, which meant there go all of his secret stores. There was nowhere he could hide. Unless...
He had heard one time of a group of rebels who had a way to escape the eyes that always watched. It was then he realized that he was being watched right now. Which meant that there were probably people already on the way. Which meant he should probably get moving. He stood up and walked away, brooding.
The hairs on the back of his neck stood up again. He spun around and crouched slightly, ready for anything. He saw nothing but 2 stunned faces. He looked around, but saw nothing. As he turned back around, a shadow moved in the alley across the street from him. He seized up slightly, and continued to stare down the dark alley, but saw nothing. He slowly turned and continued walking in the same direction he had been before. He fingered his pistol. This was going to be a long walk.
----
The man had seen him. He disappeared. And watched.

Which only went to prove "you shouldn't judge a book by its cover." The two were more than capable than living on their own... Or rather, Kiah was perfectly capable of living for the two of them. Confidence was needed in the world today, and though he may have a bit more than necessary, it did the two wonders. How else had they managed for the past couple years? Zeke yawned, "What about in... where was it? Rax? Didn't you say that place was pretty low-key?" Kiah looked thoughtful for a moment, brushing the bangs out of her eyes. "Yeah... And I think we already have some poetry books there," he added. Always looking out for the little one. Delight overtook her face. "Let's go there, then." She hadn't messed around with poetry for a while. "What? Off of lyrics, now?" he asked, hooking an arm around her neck. The two were lost in their own world despite the fact that they were probably already on the screen of every bounty hunter and news cast. Dammit. "You know of Rax?" he asked their newest companion. -x- Even on the screens of Sevron's little hideout. This one would be fun. A mere child?Maybe this would prove to be a little more exiciting... The ghost of a grin ran across his face as he gathered your stereotypical trench coat, threw it on and left without locking up. Fun, indeed... -x- Quite the brawl that had happened in that bar, judging by the noises... And now the three victorious warriors were leaving. What a perfect ending. In hands of the creature was a paint brush stained with various paints and a sealed bucket of what one could safely assume was paint. The bristles of the brush were being dragged along the wall, leaving a faint trail of light blue. Inspiration escaped her on this bleak night. A laugh left the slender jaw which had contorted into a sick smile; A perfect ending? No such thing.

ooc;; And I'll ask on here since I know she'll be back to yell at us;
Katie, what's your house number again? I can't find the sheet... >< I know the rest, but I can't remember the number. ^^;;

Mode watched the last breath of life, satisfied. But, she hungered for more... The almost psychotic glint in her eyes was a rather good indication of such.
She sniffed - cold had caught up to her - and wiped the nice slice she'd recieved along her cheekbone. That had been her own bloody dagger, too. Speaking of...
The youth reached down and grabbed the tattered hilt, stepping on the carcass before yanking it out. Blahh... Not fun. Appearently, some of the hilt had managed to be plunged in.
Ah well. Bastard deserved it. Leaving the scene with a smug smirk, she wiped the blade on her shorts and replaced it in the sheath.
Who was to be next?

ooc; You gotta hurry if you want to catch up Katie XD
ic; Rax... He supposed it was better than here, though not by much. Then again, anywhere was better than here right now. He felt like the entire city was watching him. Apparently these two also had some sort of nest there, which would prove to be helpful. Even if the government already knew of the place, it would prove to be a good place of rest. For a time.
He hailed a cab that happened to be going by. As the cab pulled over, he turned to the two "friends". "We should travel seperately, so as not to arouse suspicion. It will also make it harder to track us." Renato pulled out a scrap of paper and a pen from his jacket pocket. "Here, write the address on this. I'll meet you there." Kiah grabbed the stationary and quickly scribbled an address on the piece of paper. "Thanks," Renato said. As he was climbing into the cab, he thought he heard a mumbled thanks, but chose to ignore it.
"To this address, in Rax. Please," Renato said as he handed the scrap to the cabbie. The man examined it for a second, then punched a few buttons on his dashboard. The timer started. The game was on.
----
Ysondre glided along the rooftops, following the lone cab. He noticed that the young ones had been left behind, and stored the information away. It may prove useful, but he doubted it.
His orders had been very clear. Follow the man named, "Renato." KEEP TRACK OF WHERE HE GOES. DO NOT KILL HIM. Strange orders, especially the last, but they were official, so he followed them to the letter. All of the data, including the point of departure, mode of transportation, and even the man's facial expressions, were being recorded by a mini camera installed in the hood of his suit. He was also taking mental notes of things the camera couldn't catch, like the man's feelings toward the other two people.
The orders however, had their loopholes, just like all the other orders he recieved. He was not told to stay invisible. Though he usually preferred to remain in the shadows, his orders did not specify it, so he could reveal himself if the need arose.
He continued to glide across the rootops, silently.

"Right..." He scrawled the address on the paper, not incredibly keen on the idea of writing it down at all, but handed it over nonetheless. A small thanks came from Zeke who still felt that she owed it and Kiah waved down the second cab he saw and gave the address of a couple blocks down. He was incredibly paranoid when it came to things that involved Zeke's location... Should've done the same for what's-his-face. Soon enough, the cab zipped along, Zeke nestled up against Kiah's arm. She was still tired. Kiah yawned, himself, and hooked an arm around her shoulders before letting her drift off to sleep. They still had a good twenty minutes or so. --x-- Sevron's eyes wandered to the roof tops. Of course there was somebody already on the trail... But... It wasn't Zeke's. He was still in good shape. Lunging from the ground to the horizontal pole above, he swung himself around and launched up to the roof tops, amused with the pursuing the other chose to emerge himself in. He wasn't sure why it was so, it just... was. Hardly anything was found to be amusing anymore. Anything that was, he left unquestioned, finding the sensation to be amusing within itself. However, he followed suit, chasing after the car Zeke was in from above and across the street. --x-- Rail chuckle's filled the air coming out half as a snarl. She was in a particularly nasty mood tonight. Tucking the can under her arm and wipping the paintbrush somewhat violently on her pants, she took off, edging toward the shadows. Perhaps these two would prove to provide some much needed entertainment tonight. --x-- Mode wasn't oblivious; she'd caught on to the odd figure who seemed to be running... No, it was more smooth than that, gliding across the rooftops in silence. Meant something was going down. People didn't just glide along rooftops for the hell of it anymore. Too suspicious. Peeking her head out of the alleyway a little more, her gaze travelled more downward to see possible paths that he might choose to navigate.

As Renato sat in the cab, his mind wandered. At first he was analyzing the problem at hand, debating all of the possible solutions to his dilemma. But his mind slowly wandered until it settled on that split second where he had made the decision to give pursuit. Why had he done it? Had he let his emotion take control of him? Had rage clouded his vision, clouded his judgement, clouded his foresight? No, it couldn't have been. He didn't remember feeling rage. Defensiveness? But why would he be defensive of someone he had just met and had barely any affiliation with? These questions flogged his mind, and he could not bring any answers to light. He didn't like that.
----
The other car stopped short, but Renato's kept going. Two people were following the other cab, a man and a woman, possibly together, but improbable. The cab he was following was moving toward Rax, a neighbouring (owned, Livi) city. Ysondre took in and processed all of this information like a finely tuned computer. He continued to move forward, and noticed that one of the people following the other cab, the woman, was actually not. In fact, it appeared that she was following him. A problem easily solved. He disappeared, and kept moving. She could not track him now. He continued to watch the target's cab, but nothing changed.

Kiah sighed, watching the scenery cloaked by night fly by until it became nothing more than a blur. This poor kid couldn't get a break. The fact that he'd picked her up had been the biggest break she'd gotten her whole life... And, of course, that was good and all, but, in all honesty, he knew that was nothing to gloat about. Her parents, she knew not. The parents she knew either ignored or had taken a liking to taking advantage of her intelligence and thanking her by often treating her like a rag doll. He pressed his lips lightly to her forhead and smiled warmly... He genuinely smiled. It was an expression many girls had attempted to get on his face with no success. It was odd, really... Put this girl in front of him and he smiled without thinking about it. Was this what love was?... --x-- Sevron watched eagerly, hoping the cab would stop soon. He'd attempted his murder in a moving cab before from the outside... It worked, sure. But messy as hell. Too much to cover up. He'd rather not repeat the situation. Instead, he continued to follow, noticing the fast approaching city of Rax. --x-- Rail could sprint, appearently. At least they'd not taken this ability from her... Or rather, had restored this one? She couldn't remember if this was one of the mess-ups... Didn't matter anymore. They couldn't restore her now... They'd have to catch her first. And she could sprint like all getout. --x-- Mode's eyes performed a double take. Annoyance crept up in her. How in the hell...? Stopping, she squited, looking for... anything, really. Just a sign as to where the man had gone. Picking up her pace again, she crossed the street and got herself up to the rooftop before scanning the horizon. Slowly, she moved forward, maybe she'd come across him again... Huh. Gone...

ooc; Man, this is going to be confusing... I'm going to try writing my new character (Trace) in 1st person, we'll see what happens...
ic; I stood on my tippy-toes, watching the wolf lady run away. She scared me. Oh well. She was leaving now. And so was that angry man in the bar. Too bad, I thought, he was fun for a little while there. I looked around a bit, then took some gum out of my pocket and put it in my mouth. It tasted like watermelon. It was tasty.
I started walking down the street. It didn't really matter where I walked, I knew, because they were probably looking for me already. And they would find me pretty soon. Oh well. I wish those stupid cameras weren't there, I thought. Always... watching. She was a big girl. She didn't need people to watch her. She was Trace: The Mind Controller. I giggled to myself at this.
Suddenly, 2 large hands seized me from behind and and I felt a hot, sweaty body behind me. "Hey there, little girl. What are you doing in a place like this?" he whispered in my ear.
"Please, let go of me," I said calmly. He released me.
"Oh, OK," He said, stuttering.
"Now, turn around and go away. I don't want to see you again," I said monotonically.
"Oh, right. Good idea. Bye, " He said, then turned around and walked away.
See? I can handle myself. I turned around and continued walking, scowling to myself.

The cab awoke Kiah from his dreamworld with a gruff voice, announcing the amount owed and that they were indeed here. No shit, Captain Obvious. Grumbling, he reached into his pocket and pulled out the night's tips. He reached over the seat and dropped the coins and bills in his hands, "Keep the change." No patience to wait for the man to count that out. "C'mon, Zeke," he murmured, pushing her over. "Mhnn..." She grumbled, but accorded to his gestures, crawling out of the cab. "How long of a walk?" she asked, stumbling in her fatigue. "Maybe ten minutes" - factoring in the fact that you're practically drunk... or so she acted - "and we're there." She yawned. "Mm'kay..." --x-- He slowed, panting, and quite thankful that they'd gotten out. Keeping up such a pace was incredibly difficult... He kept up with their now leisurely walk. Of course they wouldn't give the driver their real address... The elder was a lot smarter than Sevron gave him credit for. Odd. He never under-estimated. Any and all possible skills you took under great consideration in this job. Something you had to catch on to earlier rather than later. It'd definitely be your downfall if otherwise. --x-- A new scent caught her nose and she was a brought to an abrupt halt. A new... young girl... Couldn't be more than twelve years of age. Retreating deeper into what little shadow was cast by the buildings, she doubled back. Perhaps she could prove to be more useful in the area of entertainment. --x-- Mode stopped, thoroughly confused, now... Where... Er... Wait. She left the perch on the building and sauntered toward one of the possible general areas that he could have been headed...

Renato's thoughts were brought to an abrupt halt as the cab pulled up next to a shabby apartment. He paid the cabbie and stepped out onto the sidewalk. He was still a little dreamy as he thought about all of the things that had transpired. He waited.
----
Ysondre stopped on the building across the street from where the cab was parked. He better not be waiting for the other 2, Ysondre thought to himself, otherwise he'd be waiting quite a while. Ysondre leaned himself up against a vent and made himself somewhat comfy. He waited.
----
What a mean man. What would make someone like him attack a little girl like myself? Oh well. I turned back around and kept walking down the street, then noticed that the wolf lady was gone. I stopped and looked around a bit, but saw nothing. She had to be around here somewhere. She couldn't just disappear. No one could do that. I hope.

Kiah dragged the tired girl along, growing annoyed with her current speed, yet finding her unusual behavior highly amusing. It wasn't like Zeke to be so... blah. She usually had energy even when put down... Granted, it was expressed in another manner than what he would prefer, but nonetheless, it was present. Finally, they came to the complex, key in hand. He nodded to the awaiting and opened the door before holding it open for both him, Zeke and then himself and getting to the elevator. What floor was this one on?... "Hey, Zeke." "Hm?" Oh wait, she wouldn't be much help in this state... "Nevermind." Instead, he examined the key and found the numbers "1306" engraved in the silver. Floor thirteen; got it. The doors opened and he stepped inside after Zeke, holding it open for the last of the trio. --x-- Sevron had ever so carefully wedged a thin strip of metal between the door and the frame. Took a lot of practice. Turned out, the old trick could work from across the street if one knew how to threw a knife. Luckily, he was one who practiced such otherwise useless skills in his spare time. Yay for spare time... He waited and watched at the elevator came to pick them up. He'd wait to take mental note of the floor it would unload the precious, precious cargo before performing the same actions himself. --x-- Rail's body had flattened against the wall at the point where the shadow became more shallow and thinned out. She wanted to get closer to pick out more details of this new arrival, but feared she might loose the light. It was simple to tell where it ended, really, though it was growing hazy what with the shortening of the darkness, but by a simple gauging(sp?) of the temperature, she could easily pick out where the shadow lingered. The only mistake she made, was when a stone she'd not anticipated scraped the ground while her foot skimmed the pavement and was kicked out. Dammit. With any luck, it would be brushed off as nothing... Her breath wasn't held. --x-- Mode sighed in defeat and retreated to a near-by bar. Had to be something going on here... Fights were always breaking out... Why should tonight be any different?

"After you," Renato said to the younger man. Kiah gave him a look, but went in first. Renato followed. The living room was pretty average; It looked like it had been bought, but never used. A love nest? By the way they defended themselves, he doubted it. But definitely a hide-a-way of some sort. The two we're definitely an interesting couple. She seemed like nothing more than a damsel in distress. Keyword, seemed. There was something behind that mask. There had to be. No one could be that... useless? That seemed fitting. And the man... Kiah... Arrogant was a better word for him. He assumed the role of protector, and he had probably assumed it without asking her. Renato could see it his eyes. Not saying she didn't enjoy his company; But he had taken the liberty to become a guardian without asking. A co-operative relationship, but it still proved his arrogance. ooc; Btw, I'm intentionally being judgmental, it's going to come back and bite him in the ass eventually. Don't mold your charries to this ---- Ysondre, for almost the first time in his life, was bored. Why couldn't he just kill this man and be done with it. He'd had 76 chances to kill him, 15 of which would have been completely silent and untraceable. He focused his mind back on his task. He would do what he was told. ---- I looked down the street in the direction the wolf lady had gone, but saw nothing. I walked a little ways and peeked around the corner onto a perpendicular street, but the woman was nowhere to be seen. Oh well. She wasn't exactly the kind of person I'd want to meet in a dark alley at night. I turned back around and started walking back down the street.

Zeke seemed to be wide awake the moment she stepped in the room. Kiah laughed softly at her sudden alertness, but said nothing of it as she bolted for the shelf against the wall. Immediately, she tore out the books, carrying a pile of seven or eight to the couch and returning for a stack of paper and a pen before settling against the cushions and opening two books at one to lay out in front of her. Quite the production. Kiah watched her usual ritual after tossing the keys on a tarnished table. "Make yourself at home," he added to Renato. "Kiah, Kiah... The poems.... They... they" "Slow down there, Z. What is it?" he asked, shaking his head. "The poems," she whined as if he should know this. "Ah yes... The poems." Now, he had no idea what the hell she was talking about, but you don't provoke an exhausted Zeke. --x-- Ever so casually, Sevron slipped inside the vacant elevator and pressed the appropriate button to reach the thirteenth floor while pondering how it was he was going to determine which room they'd entered... Several ways - maybe two of which would be reasonable - to find out the necessary information. Ah well. Let's get to the thirteenth floor first. --x-- Rail waited for her to continue down the street, thanking her lucky stars that she wasn't caught. Or so it seemed... This child couldn't be wise enough to pull such a stunt... She'd take her chances. With all the care in the world, she left the cloak of darkness and kept several paces back at all times, nonetheless, still stalking the girl... Why the hell not? The night was moving slow, anyway.

Renato remained standing. The two were acting very strangely, and Renato remained ready to spring. The entire trip, the hairs on the back of his neck had been standing on end. He took a quick walk around the apartment, checking all of the exits: An emergency exit out the bedroom window, a window overlooking a drop 13 stories down, and the door they had come in. Not very many options for escape... but then, not very many for entry either. He positioned himself near the front door and kept a finger on his pistol.
----
"Capture the main target, incapacitate any who get in the way. DO NOT KILL THEM."
The transmission cut out. His orders were always simple. Any vagueness was intended; They didn't want to limit his abilities too much. He examined the current situation. It was not going to be a difficult mission. The 2 who were to be incapacitated weren't even armed, and the target was inexperienced. Unless the situation changed, he had a 99% success rate. Even if it did, he could think on his feet. He quickly checked his weapons and planned his route of entry.
----
I looked around for a second to see if there were any government people around. Didn't look like it, but they sometimes had new people hanging around, doing dirty work.
I kept walking along the sidewalk, and a woman with large black sunglasses walked past me. In the reflection of her sunglasses, I saw that wolf-lady again! I seized up slightly, but continued to walk, I had a feeling she was following me, but I kept walking. Maybe she would go away. If worse came to worse, I could always make her go away, but I always felt so bad doing that to people.
