Zeke snuggled up against Kiah, her head resting on his shoulder and books partially in his lap. He stared down at the words that held little meaning for him and then at Zeke's work... or what she'd done of it, anyway. Appearently, she hadn't finished parts of it for her pencil scribbled on the paper furiously though her head could barely be held up.
"I think you should go to bed," he began softly, gently pulling the book away as she nodded.
"Yeah... I am kinda tired," she admitted, turning to hug his neck.
He laughed, "No, c'mon - bed." And ever so carefully so as to not upset her, he pulled her toward the bedrooms, leading her into one.
"No, your room," she protested, pushing against his frame toward his room.
"Finefine... Get ready. I'll be in in a moment or five."
Truthfully, however, he had no plans for sleep tonight.
Instead, he returned to the family room, glancing at Renato. "Zeke's not gonna sleep in her bed t'night, so feel free to take that over," he informed, beginning to clean up the mess she'd created.
The elevator's bell rand indicating that he was at his desired floor... Or that an elderly woman thought she'd pressed the "down" button. What the hell was a woman her age doing up so late? No less, going down?
The chemicals in the food must be getting worse... Or granny's not as innocent as she pretends to be.
Finally, the thirteenth floor.
He left the box and cables behind and began to head toward wherever he heard sound. Which was a total of three apartments. Casually, he waited by the elevator doors while performing several simple calculations in his head... Should he save time and risk it or take the time to do everything right?
Rail felt the air suddenly tense and a new scent entered her nose... Not quite like fear, but almost there...? She hated trying to decipher by the scents of people... Terribly inaccurate unless the emotion was strong. Like. REALLY strong.
Ah well.
She wasn't going anywhere to soon and had time to kill. Why not try to figure out what this scent was?
