Her hand clamped firmly on her upper arm, but the blood still insisted that it declare its presence as it seeped through the cracks of her fingers. Owww. Owowowow. The bastard had landed a pretty decent knifing thereee. Time had picked up without warning and she didn’t get a chance to create a buffer zone. To her dismay, death isn’t always instant and he’d his final say before he fell to misfortune’s hand.
She sighed, studying the smeared charcoal on her wrist; the last remains of her runes. Great. Now all she needed to do was be caught out here in a fight. No weapon, no time manipulation… Hell, she barely had a body anymore. Hers was all… mangled and sliced from the previous run-in. A deadly mistake, she’d made. Underestimated the other.
She shook her head, clearly disgusted with herself. Should’ve just let the damn spell go, killed him and be done with it. Because this was really not worth it… And she knew she’d be in some trouble when she returned back home… If you could call it that.
Her tail hung low to signify that she was entirely exhausted – as if her current state wasn’t enough of a sign - and her eyes bore a look of defeat despite the fact that she’d emerged the winner. Just… she absolutely dreaded what awaited her when she finally walked through that door. And the clothes that were since tattered now were nothing more than rags, barely hanging on her small frame, and proving useless except for soaking up the blood. She’d be scolded for not having anything to cover the features that obviously separated her from the rest of the human population which were now in plain view and receiving gawks and double-takes. Always fun.
The jade eyes brushed over a flyer posted on a telephone pole with the clever use of a rusted nail. “Reward for the capture of any demonic creature… Preferably alive.” She blinked, laughing softly at this… ridiculous request. No person in their right mind would approach anything like… Well, Caine with the intentions of death had they known the extent of his power. Of course, he was careful to keep it so they didn’t know. Oh so cunning was he.

OOC: How Taketo and Hashi interact with eachother is no indicator in how they will interact with others. Just because they sound nice doesn't mean they can't be evil murdering bastards when they find something they dont like.
Something is stirring, I can feel it. There is a concentration of magic here that I have never seen anywhere else. Yet, there is nothing for me to do! If I where to just barge out there blasting demons I would be branded one before you can say 'fireball'. Still, something big is about to happen and I hope we can find it before it finds us
Taketo: Brother, you make it sound like an overlord is coming, while there's lots of people here that want others dead I haven't seen much in the form of demons or magic.
Hashi: Hey little Sister, have you completed today's kill yet?
Taketo: You know I hate it when you call me that. Yeah the job is done, but like most of the jobs I get here they are no challenge.
Hashi: At least you have something to do.
Taketo: Well, there's flyers going around about a reward for capturing a demon. Perhaps if we find one in a dark alley or something we could make a quick buck.
Hashi: You know, that actually sounds like a good idea. How far are you from here?
Taketo: About five minutes, this town seems very odd too me. It's almost as if the people are afraid to look up, lest they see the other world that they are missing.
Hashi: Well, fools will be fools. Im gonna do some meditating then we can go. See you in a few minutes.

It was a regular day, that is for someone who is always on the
run. After just finishing a job early, he was waiting for a reply
from his contact. His latest “test” as he called them was during
the day. It was the first hit he had ever done during the day. As
most of his enemies know it’s the only time that he is vulnerable.
He was left to rely on his amazing sense of hearing to track and
dispose of his target. To make things worse his target was on to
him, it didn’t take long to figure out that the guy with the big
sword was following him. Even with his prey leading him into a
trap, he continued on. Leading him into a street full of people, his
prey thought he was clever. Hiding behind a pillar, he though he
was safe…. He sliced through the pillar as well as his prey’s
upper body, killing him isnstantly. Even though his prey had
cleverly hidden himself in a large crowd, after being tracked for
several days there was no way to lose his pursuer….. Back in the
confines of his dark hideout, deep within the blackness of his
hidden room. He waits for any sign of his contact. Surfing the
internet on his usual sites, he came across a small site asking for
something that was the kinda thing that he liked to do. It was
the bounty on demons…………..

At first look, the corner seemed to be empty. The darkness was complete. The light that should have been there was not. It was almost as if the darkness had been folded upon itself. But no, that was impossible. Unless... it was the work of demons. God damn demons. Too thingyy for their own good. Their overconfidence will be their downfall... eventually.
~
The darkness feels... warm. It fills me, inside and out. I breathe it in and it feels like a warm summer day in Hawaii. I can almost taste the salt in the air, hear the waves crashing upon the beach, see the people enjoying their carefree lives... Almost. The image is fleeting at best, but it provides solace.
The real world is a hard place. It seems like everywhere I look people are fighting, wars are starting, innocents are dying. And here I sit, huddled under a blanket of darkness, unable to save a single soul; not even myself. I silently laugh to myself. Soul? Since when did I have a soul...
"Eh?"
The voice seemed to come from every direction. I flinched slightly. In all this time I had still not gotten used to the feeling of having a real voice in my head.
Go back to sleep, I thought. I was just talking to myself...
"But I am you."
No, you're not!, I thought fiercely. I am still me. You are nothing more than a resident in my house. My house.
"You keep telling yourself that, it doesn't do you any good. I have more control here than you do, and you know it."
I was silent for a second. It was not true. I was still a person. I was still human. I had control of my body, and he could do nothing more than advise from inside. How could he possibly have more power than me?
"See? I can see you thinking that! You still have a lot to learn. Even then, once you're actually smart, I'll still be smarter."
Shut up TwilightMyst, I thought. Go back to sleep. And stop listening into my private thoughts, they're private for a reason.
And suddenly there was silence. Easier than usual... strange. He must be planning something. He always seemed to be making up plots and schemes to try and take over the body. The demon inside my mind knows that although he has a lot of control and influence, he doesn't have the final decision. That was mine and mine alone. I hold onto that, for it is one of the last scraps of my humanity remaining.
The war of the outside world had nothing on me.

Her greeting on the way in was a flat palm to the cheek causing her vision to blacken a little with little hope of a swift return. And so it begins...
"Just where the hell were you?" a voice demanded. The effects of the slap were still on her, though, giving the elder demon time to inspect the rest of her image and draw his own conclusions. "And what did you do to your clothes? Oh shit, your ears... And the goddamn tail... Couldn't just walk on two feet, could you? Did you have those covered at least? Fuck. You know there are bounties around here for creatures like us?"
On and on and onnnn. "Caine... Please. Can you shut up... for like. Two minutes? The feeling in my head needs to return."
He snarled, pacing the small apartment, now. "You sure no one followed you? No one?"
She nodded, holding her head as the colors began to take incoherent shapes. "Yeah... You act like you haven't drilled this in my head since age five..." she grumbled, finally able to make out the couch from the television.
His glare fell on her and she took a step back, not wishing to be hit again. "Yet, despite this, you still can't understand that you need to at least look normal," he pointed out.
"Mm. Y'know. Maybe I could if you'd just left me alone," she mused, a hint of sarcasm in her voice. Immediately, though, she regretted this and was reminded of the mood he was in when a rather heavy glass vase was thrown her way, accurately hitting her temple. She was down with a whine, holding the newest wound while his hand jerked back and she was yanked toward him, still on the ground, head in her hands.
"Had I left you, you'd be dead," he informed her in a low, annoyed growl.
"Better than this." Well. She was already in for it. Might as well go down with a bang.
He turned his head with a silent string of colorful words and flicked his hand off to the side as if dismissing this conversation. However, the results of the simple gesture rendered her immobile. "Not another word, pup. I'm not really feeling up to beating your ass tonight. Nor do I really care to see your face. So. When I get back, it'd be pretty cool if you were in your room or something. Just a suggestion."
And he took his leave.
"But... I'm in your fucking binds," she growled at the unlocked door. Of course, he wouldn't bother with the lock. She should be able to fend for herself should an intruder come. Especially with being stuck to the floor, no runes at the ready, no weapon nearby, and barely being able to think clearly. She struggled against the bonds, being able to just barely move her left foot if she gave it her all.
WELL. This would be fun.[/color]

ooc; Sammael needs something to do... Hmm...
(10 minutes after writing that) Fuck yes, I got an idea
(5 minutes after that one) But it might not come up in this post... we'll see.
ic; The rising of the sun was accompanied by the noise and bustle of everyday city life. Smog made it difficult to see sometimes and breathe, but you learned to live with it after a while. The streets were cluttered with people going about their lives. Restrained by schedules and clocks, they hurried as much as they could in a tightly packed crowd.
As I looked at the people from my alley way, I chuckled slightly at the people who feigned ignorance of the world around them. Most of them probably didn't want to believe demons existed. They ignored the signs, attributed strange occurrences to nature or things like that, and refused to believe what their own eyes told them. Too caught up in the day-to-day life of a high class citizen to care about demons and such nonsense.
I turned away. Too many painful memories.
The alley was fairly empty. Figures sat in corners, shivering, slowly deteriorating, starving. Normal people would not walk this sort of lane. Luckily, a flash of one of my metallic claws showed the depraved, crazed men who was in charge.
As I walked down the thin alley, TwilightMyst woke up. Speaking of being in charge...
"Wha...? Where are we...?" The voice said groggily.
Behind the national bank, I thought offhandedly.
"Why?"
The hell should I know? I've just been wandering around, thinking.
"What a nice way to spend a morning."
Afternoon actually, I thought, smirking.
"... Whatever."
I could almost see him rolling his eyes inside my head.
"So what's on the schedule for today, besides wandering aimlessly like we usually do? I'm getting kind of sick of seeing the same old buildings and people every day."
I thought about this for a second. TM was right. I really need to find a way to spend my time effectively. I really wasn't getting much accomplished just walking around town, scaring whoever saw me. And about the only thing achieved by my conversations with TM was further confusion and frustration.
"We need something that will make us a little bit of cash, too. As fun as it is, threatening people for food will eventually get some hunter on our ass." TwilightMyst advised.
He was right, even though I didn't want to admit it. Threatening people wasn't right, but it was better than getting a job... the last thing I wanted to do was deal with people. Suddenly, a sign caught my eye.
I think I've got an idea, I thought.
".... Oh, hell no. NO."
Sorry TM, but I need to do something fulfilling. It's worth good money, and it doesn't take very long. Plus, I'm perfectly capable of handling the job.
And the best thing was that I get to deal with people on my own terms.
ooc: BAHAHAHA! Cliffhanger! Owned! lol
EDIT: .... Fuck. I just reread everyone else's post... and realized that my cliffhanger isn't as awesome as I thought... lol Oh well.
