He struggled to keep down a laugh. "Politics?" he asked. "Why do you think I left my home? Politics ruin everything." He left it at that, glancing towards the window, thoughts drifting slowly back homeward. Then he seemed to remember a question had been posed. He shook his head a fraction then smiled back at her. "My name's Thaniel. Now for God's sake just tell me your name."

Her mouth twisted upwards in a leer. She liked to hear that tone of desperation that she had created.
"Arcane." And moved, for maybe the third time that night, her slender, pale arms lifting her torso from her chair as she got to her feet. Slowly, the youth made her way to the other side of the tarnished table, gently moving his head to face up at hers with one hand. And while she had been turning his head, a genuine, warm smile had taken her face. This time, it reached her eyes. One hundred per cent, all the way, and then some. It was as if they danced with ecstasy. "Thanks."
And she reached into the pockets of the intricate skirts, dropping a few coins on the table; enough to cover them both. Almost as if gliding in her long graceful strides, she was out the door only moments later and gone.
Rowan met up with her, the sudden cool air around her his indication of presence. "And what can I help you with?" "Absolutely nothing. Just here to see you get off to bed. Last night's sleep - or rather, lack thereof - is taking it's toll." You could tell his words were fighting against the soft breeze to be heard, often carried away in their failures. But she could hear him without a voice. "Ahh. Of course; never for me, is it?" she murmured, rounding the corner. He looked positively hurt, reaching out to touch her shoulder with a frozen hand. One could see the effort in his face as he scavenged for the energy to make his hand whole. She felt the sudden drain more than ever before, but gave no motion of such. "I'm shocked... I can't believe you even would suggest a thing. I'm always looking out for you." "Mm. Silly me." "Yes... silly." And he was gone with the wind again.
She was almost too exhausted to walk, but managed back to the apartment she'd rented for her stay in safe condition. Stumble to the bed and cut the lights.

ooc; Okay, hope you don't mind the way I'm making Thaniel right now, I just figure that though he wanders so much he would probably run into a few girls and knowing him wouldn't be too reserved in getting to know. He doesn't sleep around a lot, he just enjoys talking with people, almost playing a game with himself to see if he can guess what'll happen. Hmm, dunno, kinda of hard to explain in good words.
ic; Again Thaniel found himself strolling the streets of the city. His thoughts were still tuned to the girl he'd just been with, Laurel. A slight smile alighted his face as he thought of her laugh; she'd been funny. And what of that other girl? Arcane? Yes, she was very mysterious indeed; so mysterious he felt getting involved wouldn't be a good idea. So mysterious that he had to know, just a little more (a name might be nice). She'd left him the other night, her light touch guiding his eyes even after she'd left.
Gods, what was he thinking? He tried to rid his head of the thought of her. He'd dealt with several enigmas before, but something about her was different. Just a little more. He banished the thought. Time to think of something new--his thoughts were too focused on her. So focused that Laurel had left with a smile, telling him he just wasn't holding good conversation or something. What had Laurel even said? He must not have been paying too much attention.

Rowan was positively bouncing off the walls. He didn't have to strain to become solid, making for a much more enjoyable evening. He was currently letting the world know he was indeed associated with this beautiful creature by keeping and loose arm around her waist. His smooth face bore a smirk; a kind of... "because I have her I don't need you." She hated that face. "Rowan, honestly. You're ridiculous," she muttered, staring at the street to her right.
Him at her left, he grinned - nothing light about the expression as a little kid's grin would be. He was staring down at her, forcing her head to face him with his free hand. She was glowering when her face finally turned and put a hand to his head, pushing him away. "Get the hell away from me." Her voice was a low growl. She was annoyed. He only laughed softly at the feeble attempt to rid herself of him. "Someone upset?" "Not at all." And she reminded him who was really in charge here, blinking. In the single instant that her eyes were closed, she was able to find the center of her energy. More specifically, Rowan's apparatus. She extinguished the copper flame and when she'd finished her blink, he was gone from the world.
Much more content, Arcane continued down the street alone now.

Her eyes weren't really focusing on one thing. The wind through the trees, a kid on a bike, some hobo shooting up. Nothing out of the ordinary; nothing she wouldn't expect to see. Only one thing. Or rather, one person; ... whose name escaped her.

ooc; okay, just to check: When Rowan's solid he still can't be seen, correct? (Except by Wue, because of that whole thing with his grandmother). Oh, and you need pic the place this time xP xD
ic; He winded the labyrinth that spread before him in the form of sky-rocketing metal and concrete buildings letting his thoughts redirect as loosely as the slight breeze that was streaming through the canyon walls. So much as of late Thaniel had been bored, but now life was taking an interesting turn. Twice, he mused, he'd run into the girl. How unusual--and how many more times would he? He hadn't been planning on leaving here, not even really thought of it. But now that Thaniel mulled over it, how long had he been here? For a long time, of course...
Well, then, he'd have to start his plans to leave sometime soon, wouldn't he? Maybe in a month or so. And Thaniel walked off further into the maze, the beginnings of his next journey conjuring up.

ooc;; Sometimes you can, sometimes you can't. All depends on what he wants. xD; But for the whole time this role play, he's been solid and the rest of the world can see him.
ic;; Plans to move... The thought was like a looming beast, demanding her utmost attention at all times to keep at bay. She did want to get off this place with every screaming nerve of her paranoid mind. This place... it wasn't too uncommon to see planet-skippers using it as a one-night stay kind of place... To just pull over and rest in the middle of a long journey.
But that's what made it so ideal; Alister might turn up in such a place. At the same time, she wasn't sure how long she could deal with the persistent nagging feeling that someone unwanted had turned up... Try more like fifteen unwanted someones.
The paranoia became too much to bear and she slipped into the first bar she found, immediately feeling the relief as the dimly-lit, low-populated establishment proved itself a worthy shelter. And drinks. Bonus.
She ordered some hard, cheap alcohol and took the vacated corner, settling into some thought and eagerly anticipating the foggy-headed side effect of the drink she chose.

Thaniel slid into a bar and sat down at a table with all nonchalance. He ordered a beer and sat back, letting his gaze sweep over the bar. To land on her again. That ruined it. He started up from the table, trying to keep a low profile, but a waitress was already bringing him his beer. Grudgingly Thaniel sat back in his seat, accepting his drink. Well, maybe if he kept his back turned he could pretend to enjoy his night...
This was going to be difficult.
